Finding a way to provide MORE…
As we embark on the journey to create an amazing practice, I need to reflect on the experiences that have led me to this point. Many of you already know me. I have been your gynecologic physician or your friend or neighbor. Some of you are meeting me for the first time. I think that it is fitting to let you all in on who I am and what I believe.
I have traveled an interesting life journey to reach this point:
- Grew up in Northern California, the biracial daughter of a Malawian mother and a Wyoming-raised father
- Received an honors degree in biology from Williams College in Massachusetts
- Graduated from Johns Hopkins Medical School in Baltimore, Maryland
- Completed OB/Gyn Residency at the University of Tennessee, Memphis in 1997
- Was a partner in private practice as a general OB/Gyn at OB/Gyn Specialists for 19 years
- Worked at CHOICES, a non-profit reproductive clinic, for 3 years.
"Dr. Susan Lacy is a compassionate, caring physician that is not only skilled technically, but has a great bedside manner and a true advocate for her patients. I’m looking forward to her private practice opening soon."

Through all of these experiences, what I have found to be the common thread, the thing that keeps me engaged in my work, is the opportunity to know all of you. I have been privileged to get to meet you during difficult times and on easy days. I’ve had the good fortune to learn about your lives and families, and we have had hard discussions as well as joyful conversations. Practicing medicine is as much of an art as a science. My job is to listen well, explain well and engage well. I view our shared experience as a partnership, which requires work from both sides. I endeavor to do everything that I can to uphold my end of that partnership.
In forming this practice, we came up with a motto and a logo: MORE. This word embodies what we hope to achieve: care that is more empathetic and inclusive, care that provides for more types of patients, care that leaves you feeling more satisfied. We will provide gynecologic care, including adolescent and menopausal care and a whole range of reproductive health services. We will provide hormone therapy for transgender patients. We will provide fertility assessment, treatment and referrals for patients, including patients in the LGBTQ+ community.
I learn something new every day from my patients and my staff. I have assembled a wonderful team of caring people who want to make your experience excellent. We will stumble along the way and we welcome all your feedback. I look forward to meeting you or seeing you again soon!
